What am I doing wrong? The only markers I have ever used for darkening my metal stamping are Sharpies — and in my experience the ink has stayed in place under all kinds of conditions.

Oxidize your ring, and then clean the off the oxidized darkening everywhere but the recessed stamped areas. I have GOT to try working with wire — so many possibilities! Thanks Rena. I will try all of these ideas and will also drill a small piece of sea glass to adorn the ring. Another thought would be to make it a little larger and put on taper candles and change droplet with seasons. A great gift idea for birthdays as well! I just love this ring.
I also see it being hammered while still on the ring mandrel for texture. Initials or sayings could be stamped on a gauge wire that has been flattened then formed into a ring. The message would circle the finger.
Thank you very much for your tutorials and inspiration what a great way to wake in the morning. I have a collection of pewter astrological signs on charms that have a few words of positive attributes of that sign, on the reverse. This would be soooo good for the upcoming craft show.

Thank you Rena! I just made a bunch of charm rings with a single wrap of the wire but I love the look with the triple bands of wire. I used shaped beads like stars, birds and even a horse instead of monograms. I even had a tiny skull bead, added a flower bead on top for a dia de los muertos ring. Please log in again.
